In a few days to know who will be our Miss Universe 2017, in our special coverage let´s go to meet a beauty and clever girl, she is 23 year old and she is looking to obtain the first crown to Ireland with the objective to inspire to young ladies to be the best version of herself and always achieve a dream. It is time to meet a Cailín Áine Ní Toibín.
Socialiteen: Hola Cailín agradecemos el tiempo que brindas para esta entrevista, de igual forma felicitarte por ser la representante de tu país, para iniciar coméntanos ¿Cómo se describe Cailín Áine? / Our editorial wants to congratulate you for being the beauty’s contestant of your country, How do you describe yourself?
Cailín Áine: Muchas gracias, pues me describo como apasionada y honesta, pasión en todo lo que hago y creo que el conocimiento es poderoso cuando aprovecho cualquier oportunidad, porque soy una persona tan apasionada, me gusta asegurarme de tener el mayor conocimiento posible sobre el tema del que estoy hablando, lo que también me lleva a honestidad, ser honesto es importante en todos los aspectos de la vida y siento que, siendo honesta, he logrado mucho en mi vida hasta ahora.
I put passion into everything I do and believe that knowledge is powerful when taking on any opportunity therefore because I am such a pasionate person I like to ensure that I have as much knowledge as possible in whatever subject I am talking about which also leads to my honesty, being honest is important in every aspect of life and I feel that in being honest I have achieved a lot in my life thus far.
Socialiteen: ¿Cuáles consideras sean tus principales habilidades y debilidades? / What are your abilities and weaknesses?
Cailín Áine: Me gusta ver mis fortalezas y debilidades como positivas y no negativas, soy ambiciosa y fuerte. Ser ambicioso es, por supuesto, positivo, ya que me hace esforzarme por cosas más grandes y mejores, y me anima a ir más allá de mis límites y también ser testarudo me hace saltar en oportunidades y tareas sin cuestionar y estoy muy centrado en mi objetivo de logrando la tarea a mano.
A veces debo dar un paso atrás y centrarme en la imagen más grande de la tarea que tengo a mano y reunir todos los factores para asegurarme de que no soy demasiada obstinada y omito las piezas del rompecabezas.
I like to see my strengths and weaknesses as a positive and not a negative.
I am ambitious and head strong. Being ambitious is of course a positive as it makes me strive for bigger and better things and wills me to go beyond my limits and also being headstrong along with it makes me jump at opportunities and tasks without question and I am very focused on my goal of achieving the task at hand.
Sometimes I must take a step back and focus on the bigger picture of the task I have at hand and bring all factors together to ensure I am not too headstrong leaving out pieces of the puzzle.
Socialiteen: ¿Cuáles son tus pasatiempos?/ What are your hobbies?
Cailín Áine: Mis pasatiempos incluyen: bailar, remar y mantenerse en forma, el baile es muy terapéutico tanto para mi mente como para mi cuerpo, también ayuda a mantener mis niveles de aptitud, puedo bailar y divertirme con mis amigos.
Comencé a remar a una edad muy temprana, mis padres pensaron que podría aumentar mi confianza y sacarme de la «timidez». El deporte me dio una sensación de ‘espíritu de equipo’, trabajando como una unidad.
Mantenerme en forma se ha convertido en parte de mi estilo de vida, que me ha ayudado a aumentar mi confianza, actitud y mentalidad tanto en la mente como en el cuerpo.
My hobbies include: Dancing, Rowing and Keeping Fit I find dancing very therapeutic for both my mind and body, it helps keep my fitness levels up too. I also get to dance and have fun with my friends.
I started rowing at a very young age, my parents thought it may boost my confidence and bring me out of ‘shy’ myself. The sport given me a sense of ‘team spirit’, working as a unit.
Keeping fit has become part of my life style. which has helped me to boost my confidence, attitude and mentality in both mind and body
Socialiteen: ¿Quién es tu ejemplo a seguir y por qué?/Who is your role model and why?
Cailín Áine: Mi modelo a seguir es mi prima Sinéad Sheppard. Desde muy joven, ella siempre tuvo la ambición de tener éxito y trabajar duro, a la edad de 19 años estaba en una banda pop irlandesa que vendió muchos otros artistas y grupos irlandeses y luego pasó a ser representante del condado como consejera, además de tener su propio negocio donde dirige clases de baile para niños. En estas clases, ella no solo enseña a los niños cómo bailar, sino que les da poder para confiar y desarrollar su autoestima, estas habilidades son esenciales para lograr metas en la vida y por esa razón es la persona que más admiro.
My role model is my cousin Sinéad Sheppard. From a young very age, she always had an ambition to succeed and work hard, at the age of 19 she was in an Irish pop band that out sold many other Irish artists and groups and then went on to be a county representative as a Councillor as well as owning her own business where she runs dance classes for children. In these classes, she not only teaches kids how to dance but she empowers them to be confident and build on their self-esteem, these skills are essential to accomplishing goals in life and for that reason she is the person I admire the most
Socialiteen: ¿Qué es lo que te motiva todos los días?/ What motivates you?
Cailín Áine: Estoy muy orientada a los resultados. Hacer un trabajo increíble y lograr el resultado final deseado es mi principal motivación. Si bien me gusta trabajar en proyectos por mi cuenta, estoy particularmente motivada por la atmósfera de trabajo en equipo. Es muy gratificante trabajar estrechamente con otras personas que comparten los mismos objetivos comunes, como las caridades, que respaldan el bienestar de la salud mental.
Me gusta asumir un desafío; y creo que el mayor desafío en todo el mundo al que nos enfrentamos es la salud mental en todos los niveles de gravedad. Lo que me motiva es la comunicación, es uno de los mejores talentos que cualquier persona puede poseer, desde muy pequeña me enseñaron a escuchar antes de hablar y cuando hablas asegúrate de que tu punto sea válido y claro, por lo tanto, aprendes buenas habilidades de comunicación de una edad joven me ha ayudado a promover y articular brevemente la epidemia de desestigmatización de la salud mental en todas las sociedades de hoy. Mi lema es: comuníquese con un mejor estado de salud mental.
I’m very results-driven. Doing an amazing job and achieving the desired end result is my primary motivation. While I enjoy working on projects on my own, I’m particularly motivated by the atmosphere of working in a team. It’s very rewarding working closely with others who share the same common goals such as charites that support mental health well-being.
I like to take on a challenge; and I feel the biggest challenge worldwide that we are facing is mental health in all different severities. What motivates me is communication, it is one of the best talents that any person can possess, from a young age I was taught to listen before you speak and when you do speak make sure your point is valid and clear therefore learning good communication skills from a young age has helped me to promote and articulate briefly the epidemic of destigmatizing mental health in all societies today. My motto is: Communicate to a better Mental Health State
Socialiteen: ¿Haces algún deporte? ¿Cuáles?/ Do you play any sport? Which ones?
Cailín Áine: He competido en competencias de remo costero desde la edad de 9 años, una dedicación total de los 4 miembros del equipo y tuve el honor de ganar numerosas medallas durante 10 años de mi carrera de remo, debido a la universidad los compromisos de remo llevaron a formas alternativas de mantenerse en forma, como bailar e ir al gimnasio.
I have competed in competition coastal rowing from the age of 9, it demanaded total and utter dedication from all 4 members on the crew and I had the honor of winning numerous All Ireland and County medals over 10 years of my rowing career, due to college commitments rowing led to alternative ways of keeping fit such as dancing and going to the gym.
Socialiteen: ¿Qué estudias? ¿O qué te gustaría estudiar y por qué?/ What do you study? Or what would you like to study and why?
Cailín Áine: En 2012 estudié Psicología Aplicada y Ciencias Sociales como estudiante universitario y este año me honraron con una beca para estudiar una Licenciatura en Artes en Comercialización y Gestión de Ventas Minoristas.
In 2012 I studied Applied Psychology and Social Sience as a undergrad and this year I was honoured with a scholarship to study a Bachelor of Arts in Business Retail Marketing and Management.
Socialiteen: ¿Cuál es tu lugar favorito?/ What is your favorite place and why?
Cailín Áine: Mi lugar favorito es mi hogar, soy una mujer irlandesa típica que ama la comodidad de su hogar y la familia que los rodea, hay un viejo refrán irlandés que dice «Níl aon tintéan mar do thintéain féin» (no hay chimenea como tu propia chimenea) y resuena conmigo, ya que todos los días cuando hace frío afuera siempre se garantizaba que llegarías a casa con un buen fuego cálido rodeado de familia.
I am a typical Irish woman who loves the comfort of their home and family surrounding them.
There is a famous irish old saying “Níl aon tintéan mar do thintéain féin” (there is no fireplace like your own fireplace) and it resonates with me as every day when it is cold outside it was always guaranteed you would arrive home to a nice warm fire surrounded by family.
Socialiteen: ¿Cuál es su visión para el futuro en su vida?/ What is your vision for the future in your life?
Cailín Áine: Me gustaría agregar a mi cartera y experiencia, Business Management y Marketing, definitivamente me veo trabajando en el sector empresarial, progresando continuamente en mis conocimientos y desarrollándome como una mujer profesional en una economía diversa y en constante cambio.
El trabajo de Miss Universo desempeña un papel integral en mis planes para el futuro, ya que es una plataforma para llevar a las mujeres a la luz pública, al tiempo que muestra que una mujer es el modelo a seguir para inspirar a las jóvenes a ser la mejor versión de sí mismas y nunca te rindas en sus sueños
I would like to add to my portfolio and experience, Business Management and Marketing.
I definitely see myself working in the business sector, continuously progressing my knowledge and developing myself as a professional woman in a diverse and ever-changing economy.
The job of Miss Universe plays an integral part in my plans for the future as it is a platform to springboard women into the public eye, while showcasing that a woman is the role model to inspire young women to be the best version of themselves and to never give up on their dreams

Socialiteen: ¿Cómo fue tu acercamiento a los certámenes de belleza?/ How was your approach to beauty competitions?
Cailín Áine: Mi viaje al escenario de Miss Universo fue uno de los que pregunté si quería hacerlo por puro nerviosismo y dudas. En mi vida he pasado tanto por el bullying como niña, pero sobre todo por la ansiedad social de adolescente que inevitablemente me hizo preguntar quién soy.
Después de numerosas conversaciones y el apoyo alentador de familiares y amigos, tomé la decisión de hacer algo que me asustara más allá de cualquier cosa que haya hecho en mi vida, pero que me hace sentir más seguro de sí mismo y creo que puedo lograrlo si realmente lo hago, poner mi mente en ello.
My journey to the stage for Miss Universe was one I questioned did I want to do out of pure nervousness and self doubt. I have over come so much in my life from bullying as a small child but most of all social anxiety as a teenager which inevitably made me question who I am.
After numerous conversations and uplifting support from family members and friends I made the decision to do something that would both scary me beyond anything I had ever done in my life yet make me feel beyond confident in my own skin and believe I can achieve if I truly put my mind to it
Socialiteen: ¿Qué significa para ti ser la representante de tu país?/ What does it mean for you to be the contestant of your country?
Cailín Áine: Estoy orgullosa de mi herencia irlandesa, con los años y en toda la historia irlandesa, las mujeres irlandesas han luchado por su independencia. Quiero ser la representante que comparte el orgullo de mi nación por nuestra hermosa isla verde, por el lugar que orgullosamente llamo HOGAR. Quiero ser un portavoz de esta gran y orgullosa nación junto con la expectativa que se espera de la Miss Universo y viajar por todo el país para difundir la armonía, el amor, la paz, la diversión y la esperanza. Quiero empoderar a quienes me rodean para que sean seguros, hermosos y se enorgullezcan de sí mismos. Atesoro el valor central de la humanidad que me guía a la comprensión de las personas, por qué actúan de la manera en que lo hacen entre sí y cómo viven sus propias vidas. Usaré estos valores centrales según mi leal saber y entender, no solo para ayudar a los demás, sino también para mostrarles a los demás cómo pueden entender a los demás, para que trabajando juntos podamos ayudar a la sociedad a progresar.
I am proud of my Irish heritage. Over the years and throughout Irish history, Irish women have fought for their independence. I want to be the representative that shares my nation’s pride for our beautiful green Isle, for the place that I proudly call HOME. I want to be a spokesperson for this great, proud nation along with the expectation that is expected of the Miss Universe title holder and travel nationwide spreading harmony, love, peace, fun and hope. I want to be empowering those around me to be confident, beautiful and take pride in themselves. I treasure the core value of humanity which guides me into understanding people, why they act the way they do towards one another and how they are living their own lives. I will use these core values to the best of my understanding not only to help others but to show others how they can understand others as well so that working as one together we will be able to help society to progress.
Socialiteen: ¿Cómo te estas preparando para el certamen?/ How have you been training to performance in the contest?
Cailín Áine: La preparación para Miss Universo es una mezcla de muchos aspectos diferentes, como clases de pasarela, lecciones de etiqueta, capacitación en medios, práctica de entrevistas y mucho más.
Por encima de todo, siento que la meditación me ayuda a prepararme al máximo para Miss Universo, aclara mi mente y me ayuda a mantener una mente sana y feliz.
Preparation for Miss Universe is a concoction of many different aspects such as walking classes, etiquette lessons, media training, interview practise and so much more.
Most of all I feel that meditation is helping me prepare the most for Miss Universe it clears my mind and helps me to maintain a healthy and happy mind.
Socialiteen: ¿Cómo valoras la belleza de las mujeres en la sociedad?/ How do you value women´s beauty?
Cailín Áine: La belleza de una mujer no se puede medir, pero la belleza de una mujer debe ser admirada no solo por su belleza externa sino por su belleza interior, la belleza de una mujer irradia desde adentro mostrando que es una mujer con visión y gracia, de corazón suave pero fuerte, consciente y Por supuesto. Resecada para su mente, admirada por su corazón, pero sobre todo honesta, abierta y cruda.
A woman’s beauty cannot be measured but a woman’s beauty should be admired not simply for her outer beauty but her inner beauty, a woman’s beauty radiates from the inside showing that she is a woman with vision and grace, soft hearted but strong, self aware and sure. Resected for her mind, admired for her heart but most of all honest, open and raw.
Socialiteen: ¿Qué esperas de Miss Universo?/ What do you expect from Miss Universe?
Cailín Áine: Espero difundir mi mensaje de comunicación, para que nosotros, como ciudadanos del mundo, nos demos cuenta que para crear una mejor salud mental debemos comunicarnos para garantizar que todas las personas cuiden de su salud mental y su bienestar.
I hope to spread my message of communication, so that we as the citizens of the world realise that to create better mental health we must communicate to ensure that all people are looking after their mental health and well-being.
Socialiteen: ¿Qué harías si te coronaran Miss Universo 2017?/ What would you do if you were named Miss Universe 2017?
Cailín Áine: Ser Miss Universo no se trata simplemente de su apariencia física, tiene que ser sobre ser un buen modelo a seguir, una inspiración para aquellos que desean seguir sus pasos. Debe incluir contribuciones «desinteresadas» a la sociedad a través de poner tu corazón y alma en todo lo que haces. Miss Universo es el embajador de un mundo orgulloso y pacífico por el momento y es el mañana. Creo que tengo las cualidades para ser Miss Universo, tomaría mis deberes y responsabilidades muy en serio, siento que soy capaz de ayudar a los demás mediante la difusión de mi moral, valores, amor y cuidado de todo corazón, que daría lugar a una gran representación del título de Miss Universo. Me gustaría estar orgullosa de la plataforma para promover la salud mental, la positividad y alentar a la sociedad, ‘está bien no estar bien’, hablar y tener una voz, sin importar lo difícil que sea buscar ayuda, todos debemos unirnos como una unidad contra el estigma asociado a la salud mental y abraza la ayuda y el apoyo que se brinda en todo el país, dedicándome a crear conciencia y fondos muy necesarios para esfuerzos filantrópicos.
Being Miss Universe is not simply about your physical appearance, it has to be about being a good role model, an inspiration to those wanting to follow in your footsteps. It should include, ‘selfless’ contributions to society through putting your heart and soul into everything you do. Miss Universe should be a woman of great heart, a heart that is willing to serve a purpose in every way. Miss Universe is the ambassador of a proud, peaceful world for now and it’s tomorrow. I believe I have the qualities to be Miss Universe, I would take my duties and responsibilities very serious. I feel I am capable of helping others by spreading my morals, values, love & care wholeheartedly, it would lead to great representation of the Miss Universe title. I would stand proud on the platform to promote mental health, positivity and encourage society, ‘it is ok not to be ok’, to speak up and have a voice, no matter how hard it is to seek help, we must all stand together as one unit against the stigma that is attached to mental health and embrace the help and support that is provided nationwide. Therefore, as a leader and role model within my community and worldwide I will work to effect positive change through volunteering, fundraising and advocacy. During my reign, with the correct tools I will personally and professionally enrich others by dedicating myself to raising awareness and much needed funds for philanthropic endeavours.
Socialiteen: ¿Qué planes tienes después de participar en Miss Universo 2017?/ What plans do you have after participating in Miss Universe 2017?
Cailín Áine: ¡Espero que sea la primera mujer irlandesa en ganar el título de Miss Universo! Llevar la corona de Miss Universo a mi país de origen significaría todo para mí y sería un sueño hecho realidad representar a Irlanda en una escala tan internacional.
I hope that I will be celebrating as the first Irish woman to win the Miss Universe title! Taking the Miss Universe crown home to my home country would mean the world to me and it would be a dream come true to represent Ireland in such an international scale.
Socialiteen: Para culminar la entrevista ¿Qué recomendarías a las mujeres que desean participar en certámenes de belleza o modelaje?/ What would you recommend to young women who wish to participate in beauty ceremonies or modeling?
Cailín Áine: ¡Cree en ti mismo! Antes de competir en concursos de belleza, era una chica muy nerviosa que no creía que pudiera lograr, una vez que comencé a competir, encontré mi voz interior, adquirí confianza en mí misma y creí en lo que yo, como mujer, representaba como individuo. He adquirido tantas habilidades para la vida que apreciaré por el resto de mi vida porque me han convertido en la mujer que soy hoy; fuerte, orgullosa y segura.
Believe in yourself! Before competing in beauty pageants I was a very nervous girl who didn’t believe I could achieve. I say girl because I had not yet figured out how to be a confident woman.
Once I began competing I found my inner voice, gained confidence in myself and believed in what I as woman stood for as an individual. I have gained so many life skills that I will cherish for the rest of my life because they have made me the woman I am today; strong, proud and confident.
