Despu\u00e9s de haber sido entrenada en las Fuerzas A\u00e9reas, he adquirido los valores del trabajo duro y la disciplina. Tengo un profundo respeto por las reglas y el trabajo bien hecho, que siempre complemento con una gran determinaci\u00f3n en todo lo que me propongo. Pero, adem\u00e1s de eso, sonr\u00edo a cada momento que puedo, disfrutando de la intimidad y del humor ingenioso.\u00a0 Probablemente desde un punto de vista introvertido.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desde otro punto de vista, soy una emprendedora empresarial y dedico gran parte de mi tiempo libre a causas ben\u00e9ficas en mi pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;m a soldier turned beauty queen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Having been trained in the air force, I&#8217;m pretty tough and disciplined. I respect rules and procedures in work and have high determination. Besides that, I smile a lot and enjoy intimacy and witty humor. I think I&#8217;m more of an introvert.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Professionally speaking, I&#8217;m also an entrepreneur and I devote my time to charity work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>\u00bfCu\u00e1les consideras que son tus habilidades y debilidades? \/ What are your abilities and weaknesses?<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Entre mis habilidades cuento con gran pericia para los trabajos manuales, como por ejemplo hand-crafting o pintura. Mis manos, tambi\u00e9n me permitieron llegar a ser una jugadora de Volleyball profesional durante mis \u00faltimos a\u00f1os en el Instituto. Hoy por hoy, sigo jugando al Baloncesto con mis amigos y, en menos ocasiones, juego al futbol (esto con los pies). Pienso que una de mis debilidades es mi sensibilidad. Siendo una persona introvertida, suelo dar muchas vueltas a mis problemas y a veces dejo que mis sentimientos me controlen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;m quite crafty and learn pretty quickly handy activities like hand-crafting and painting. Thanks to my hands, I used to be a professional volleyball athlete during my high school years. I still play basketball every once in a while and, sometimes, I also try soccer (this with my feet).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My weakness is my sensitivity. Being an introvert, sometimes I tend to let my thoughts wander and be controlled by my emotions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>Plat\u00edcanos un poco m\u00e1s sobre ti,\u00a0 \u00bfCu\u00e1les son tus aficiones? \/ What are your hobbies?<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Amo los libros de pol\u00edtica y econom\u00eda. Disfruto perdi\u00e9ndome en ese mundo de conocimiento que son las librer\u00edas y, m\u00e1s concretamente en Vietnam, esas calles llenas de libros, legado del gremio de los antiguos libreros. Tambi\u00e9n me gusta leer libros basados en el Desarrollo Personal que ense\u00f1an sobre soft skills y me intrigan otros g\u00e9neros como la ciencia ficci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El cine es otra de mis grandes aficiones, especialmente pel\u00edculas de Ciencia Ficci\u00f3n o de mundos y criaturas fant\u00e1sticas.\u00a0 As\u00ed, soy un gran fan de Resident Evil y me encanta ver Game of Thrones con mis amigos para hablar luego sobre cada cap\u00edtulo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por \u00faltimo, amo viajar, explorar e inmiscuirme en diferentes culturas. Realmente, desear\u00eda tener m\u00e1s tiempo para viajar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I love to read about politics and economics. I enjoy getting lost in the world of knowledge at private bookstores or book streets at my country. I&#8217;m also interested in self-development books that teach you soft skills. Some fictions also intrigue me.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sci-fi and mythological movies are also among my top choices for entertainment. In fact, I&#8217;m a big fan of Resident Evil and I binge-watch Game of Thrones whenever I can, better with my friends so we can talk about each chapter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, I love travelling, exploring nature and different cultures. Se trata de un l\u00edder espiritual mundial como lo es el Papa Francisco. Solemos actuar y tomar decisiones pensando en nuestros l\u00edmites personales pero, ellos sin embargo, han sobrepasado esos l\u00edmites para un bien mayor, m\u00e1s global.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Dalai Lama tiene frases memorables que me acompa\u00f1an en mi d\u00eda a d\u00eda, por ejemplo: &#8221; El objetivo no es ser mejor que otro hombre, sino ser mejor que tu yo anterior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b>I have tremendous respect for Dalai Lama XIV because I have learned so much from him. He&#8217;s a global icon for spiritual and mental strength, as the Pope could be. We usually think and make decisions within our own limits. How was your approach to beauty competitions?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Hasta hace 7 a\u00f1os, cuando dej\u00e9 mi carrera deportiva para empezar la Universidad, era literalmente una de las chicas \u00a8grandes\u00a8 en la escuela, lo que afectaba de alguna manera a mi confianza. Sin embargo, mi familia siempre crey\u00f3 que ten\u00eda algo especial y me alent\u00f3 a participar en el certamen de Miss Vietnam. Para ser honestos, tom\u00e9 parte en esta competici\u00f3n para que mi madre dejara de ser tan pesada sobre el tema (jaja). Al final,\u00a0 todo eso fue el principio de mi aventura en los cert\u00e1menes de belleza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than 7 years ago, when I had just stopped my career in sports to attend university and I was literally one of the &#8220;big&#8221; girls at school, which affected my self-esteem. However, my family believed that I had what it took and encouraged me to participate in Miss Vietnam competition. Honestly, I took part in the competition so that my mom would stop bugging me about it (moms, haha). And that is how I started my journey with beauty pageants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>\u00bfC\u00f3mo te convertiste en representante de tu pa\u00eds? \/ How did you begin the beauty\u2019s contestant in Miss Universe?<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Decid\u00ed participar en Miss Universo 2015 despu\u00e9s de alcanzar el Top 25 en Miss World el a\u00f1o anterior. Todo el mundo que me conoc\u00eda trat\u00f3 de convencerme para no participar, pues les preocupaba que pudiera perder todo lo que hab\u00eda conseguido despu\u00e9s de Miss World\u2026hab\u00eda implicados muchos riesgos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sin embargo, pens\u00e9 que a veces hay que escucharse a s\u00ed mismo, arriesg\u00e1ndose a perder o ganar. Desafortunadamente no tuve suerte ese a\u00f1o, pero aprend\u00ed y encontr\u00e9 nuevas experiencias. \u00a8La victoria es un buen vino, pero la derrota es una buena escuela\u00a8<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desde entonces, nunca me di por vencida y me embarqu\u00e9 en un viaje de desarrollo personal y profesional, resultando en que el destino me llam\u00f3 para representar a Vietnam en Miss Universo 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b>I decided to join Miss Universe 2015 after placing in top 25 at Miss World 2014. Everyone I know tried to stop me from joining as they were worried that I would lose everything I gained after Miss World, it involved way too many risks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, I listened to the voice within, yearning to learn and experience. I decided to compete in Miss Universe to seek new opportunities. Unfortunately, I did not have much luck that year but \u00a8victory is a good wine, losing is a good university\u00a8.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, I have never given up. I&#8217;ve embarked on a self-improvement journey ever since and once again, destiny called me to represent Vietnam at Miss Universe 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 significa para ti representar a tu pa\u00eds? \/ What does it mean for you to be the contestant of your country?<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Adem\u00e1s de ser un gratificante resultado a todo mi esfuerzo y pasi\u00f3n por superarme a m\u00ed misma, es un enorme honor. Sin duda, ser\u00e1 una motivaci\u00f3n extra para continuar so\u00f1ando y marcarme nuevas cimas que conquistar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to being the result of my own efforts and passion of overcoming oneself, it is an honor. This will motivate me to continue dreaming and setting new goals to conquer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>Com\u00e9ntanos, \u00bfC\u00f3mo te has preparado para el Miss Universo? \/ How have you been training to performance in the contest?<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen: <\/b>Despu\u00e9s de otros cert\u00e1menes, estoy considerada como una participante con experiencia. La mayor\u00eda del tiempo practico y aprendo por m\u00ed misma. Sin embargo, tambi\u00e9n cuento con un equipo de asesores y especialistas en distintas materias, adem\u00e1s de dedicarme a analizar videos de otras participantes en cert\u00e1menes anteriores.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;m considered an experienced contestant. Most of the time, I practice and learn on my own. Incluso cuando intentamos olvidar este mensaje, muchos nos lo recuerdan cada d\u00eda en la televisi\u00f3n y en la prensa. Cuando las voces del juicio social hablan m\u00e1s alto que nuestras propias creencias, no podemos escuchar lo que nuestros corazones sienten de verdad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las mujeres solemos ser educadas para tomar en cuenta las imperfecciones de nuestra belleza externa. Nos preguntamos cada d\u00eda si nos sentimos bellas y atractivas. He aprendido que con esta actitud hacia la belleza es como nos ponemos l\u00edmites en muchos aspectos de nuestra vida, incluyendo a nuestro amor propio o a por ejemplo al recibir el justo amor de tu pareja.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alguien dijo \u00a8la belleza est\u00e1 en los ojos del que mira\u00a8. La belleza exterior es subjetiva y variar\u00e1 y desvanecer\u00e1 con el tiempo, mientras que los que\u00a0 tengan un coraz\u00f3n puro y car\u00e1cter bondadoso siempre ser\u00e1n personas bellas de acuerdo a cualquier est\u00e1ndar de belleza. Realmente pienso que con belleza interior es cuando puedes decir \u00a8una vez bella, siempre bella\u00a8. Una\u00a0 mujer bella brillar\u00e1 mucho m\u00e1s con conocimiento, compasi\u00f3n, independencia y confianza en s\u00ed misma.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For centuries, it has been whispered that\u00a0a woman\u2019s value is her youth and beauty. And even if we try not to listen to this message in our heads, we\u2019re reminded of it daily in advertisements and magazines.\u00a0When the voices of social assessment scream more loudly than our inner knowledge, we can\u2019t hear the truth of what our souls know to be true.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We\u2019ve been trained to find the flaws of our external beauty. We wonder if we\u2019re attractive and desirable. This version of a woman\u2019s beauty is how we limit ourselves in all ways, including our own self-love and being deserving of a partner\u2019s love. As one once said, &#8220;beauty is in the eye of the beholder,&#8221; external beauty is subjective and would vary and fade with time, whereas those who have a pure heart and a good character will always remain beautiful according to all standards. I truly believe that internal beauty is the one thing that is &#8220;once beauty, always beauty.&#8221;\u00a0I think beautiful women would shine brighter with knowledge, compassion, independence and confidence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen: <\/b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 esperas de Miss Universo? \/ What do you expect from Miss Universe?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen<\/b><b>: <\/b>Siempre hab\u00eda so\u00f1ado con competir en Miss Universo, y es un sue\u00f1o que est\u00e1 a punto de cumplirse. As\u00ed que simplemente estar all\u00ed, en Las Vegas, es una recompensa y un privilegio. Disfrutar\u00e9 de cada simple minuto que pasar\u00e9 en el certamen. Creo que ser\u00e1 una experiencia \u00fanica e irrepetible y vengo con una mente abierta que me ayuda absorberla. Espero no estar siempre entre tacones, vestidos glamurosos y maquillajes las 24 horas del d\u00eda. En cambio, espero estar expuesta a situaciones en las que cualquier persona necesite mi ayuda como figura p\u00fablica para que ese problema consiga repercusi\u00f3n. Como reina de belleza, es mi trabajo educar y concienciar a la opini\u00f3n p\u00fablica en los problemas sociales, para crear la repercusi\u00f3n que justifica mi t\u00edtulo y ponerlo en post de una buena causa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have always dreamed of competing at Miss Universe someday and now I have come very close. Thus, just being here itself is already a reward. I cherish every single minute I spend at the competition. I expect Miss Universe to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I come into the competition with an open mind. I expect NOT to always be in heels, glamorous dresses, make up all done 24\/7. I expect to be thrown into situations where people need my help as a public figure to gain awareness. Pero si logro ser Miss Universo 2017, ser\u00eda una oportunidad de oro para maximizar mis esfuerzos orientados a la caridad. Con la influencia que ganada con el t\u00edtulo, espero encontrar nuevos medios que ayuden a los que m\u00e1s lo necesitan. De hecho, tengo especial inter\u00e9s por aprender m\u00e1s sobre desarrollo sostenible y seguir\u00eda, como hasta ahora, con proyecto educativos\u00a0 pues creo firmemente en el poder de la educaci\u00f3n. Esto \u00faltimo ser\u00eda mi mayor foco de atenci\u00f3n, especialmente enfocada a los ni\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whether of not being crowned Miss Universe 2017, I would still continue my business career and my philanthropy journey as previously planned. But, if I do become Miss Universe 2017, it would be a golden opportunity for me to maximize my charity efforts. With the new influence gained from the title, I hope to find new resources to help those in needs. I&#8217;m specifically interested in sustainability development and I&#8217;m a firm believer of the power of education. I will prioritize my efforts in children&#8217;s education.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Socialiteen:<\/b> \u00bfQue planes tienes despues de Miss Universo? \/ What plans do you have after participating in Miss Universe 2017?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loan Nguyen<\/b><b>: <\/b>Despu\u00e9s de esta aventura por el mundo de los cert\u00e1menes, quiero llegar a ser una emprendedora reconocida en mi pa\u00eds. Hace poco, junto con unos amigos, he empezado un proyecto empresarial relative a una cadena de restaurants de fast food de pollo. Si todo sale seg\u00fan lo planeado, este mismo Noviembre inauguraremos nuestro primer restaurante, y el segundo se abrir\u00e1 en Diciembre, justo despu\u00e9s de Miss Universo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Being an entrepreneur, I, together with some friends, have started a chicken fast food restaurant chain in Vietnam.
